The LithiumSafe™ Smoke Containment Sleeve (LSSC6550) is an advanced safety solution developed to contain smoke and hazardous gases released during lithium-ion battery thermal runaway events.
Originally developed in close cooperation with leading international airlines and cabin safety professionals, the LSSC6550 was designed around one of the most challenging operational environments imaginable: the confined space of an aircraft cabin. The result is a compact, lightweight and highly effective smoke containment solution that is equally valuable in many other industries where lithium batteries are used, transported, charged or stored.

Why Smoke Containment Matters
Lithium-ion battery thermal runaway events generate large volumes of hot gases and smoke. These emissions may contain hazardous substances such as hydrogen fluoride (HF), carbon monoxide (CO), hydrogen (H₂), and various volatile organic compounds (VOCs). Completely sealing these gases inside a fire containment bag could create excessive internal pressure, potentially compromising the integrity of the containment system.
For this reason, the Fire Containment Bag is engineered to safely contain the fire while allowing controlled pressure relief. While this approach effectively manages the fire hazard, smoke will be released.
To address this remaining risk, LithiumSafe developed the Smoke Containment Sleeve. Used as a secondary containment layer around the Fire Containment Bag, it is specifically designed to contain smoke and toxic gases, providing comprehensive protection against all major hazards associated with lithium battery thermal runaway events.
Big on Protection, Small on Storage
The LithiumSafe™ Smoke Containment Sleeve is supplied in a compact folded configuration, making it easy to store, carry and deploy when needed. When packed, it measures just 430 × 230 × 70 mm (16.9 × 9.1 × 2.8 inches) and weighs only 1.17 kg (2.6 lbs).
Developed with input from airline safety professionals, the LSSC6550 combines maximum performance with minimal storage requirements.
To the best of our knowledge, it is the smallest and lightest fully enclosed smoke containment solution of its kind currently available.
